Yeah, link building is tedious. Very tedious indeed if you are looking for quality links instead of crap and spam links. High page rank webpages, same theme, outbound links, coding errors and dozens of other things are kept in mind while judging the quality of a link worthy site or page.
If you find a page of your specifications contacting the webmaster of that website or blog and getting link is another roller coaster ride story.
After the Google Panda update, I have noticed a rise in awareness about quality on content and links yet there are people who are opting for links in volume ( of course of low quality) than going for quality link building.
I am going to narrate two very interesting incidences here. A month back, an SEO Agency contacted me. Since it was our first interaction they did not know about our ethics and work culture.
They said they are a very big SEO agency in XYZ cityand if we can deliver the work we would never need another partner. A very promising gesture!!!!
I enquired the nature of the project. They briefed us about three mega projects. I am not going to talk about the first two as I fear I will deviate from the topic at hand. The last one was submitting duplicate articles across three thousands sites. According to their instructions we had to submit one single article on at least fifty sites.
Jokingly I asked are you guys planning a Search Engine assassination of the client’s site or are they your competitors whom you want to get penalized for numerous links from duplicate contents.
They said we don’t care until or unless the client is paying. I told them to educate the client about the Panda algorithmic update which says links from content farms or duplicate contents can get a site penalized. Ultimately we refused the work thus losing at least six thousand dollars (two dollars per article submission). Inside I felt proud that I didn’t compromise with our principles and ethics.
Later that every SEO Agency came to us (of course bowled over by our integrity) and requested to work on their sites. Trust me not only in SEO but in any walk of life never ever compromise with your principles. Honest pays. I know it.
Don’t cheat client by making false promises. Just tell them the reality. Like if a client is looking for 200 links in 2000 USD tell him instead go for high quality links although less in number. Most of the prospective SEO clients have half-baked knowledge of SEO. Educate them first.
For the sake of mere landing up a project don’t make false promises. Tell them the cost considerations. If you are an SEO Expert in India people will expect you to work at dirt cheap prices. Let those clients go. As if a client is too much focused on money he or she will never appreciate the quality of your work.
In my next blog I will talk about how much an SEO Expert or SEO Consultant from should charge for SEO Consulting Services on hourly basis. Have plans to write for nature and types of SEO enquiries and SEO projects. Hope I get time soon. Signing off, now !
